With over 15 years experience in the branding and marketing industry, one of my true passions is to work with small businesses to get to the heart of their “why” – find what really lights them up – and create meaningful branding and memorable marketing.
- Graphic Design : branding, marketing materials, promotional items, etc.
- Digital Marketing : Social media graphics, digital downloads, e-books, email templates, etc.
- Websites : WordPress SEO maintenance, ghost writing, content and photo input, etc.
I work with clients both big and small; AirBnb, Fresh Herbs, Clever Dever Wherever, Griffin Elite, Cincinnati Dutch Lions FC and Flourish Gathering are my most recent partners in design for 2018. Other clients include Baubles & Bowties, Lauren Fritsch, and Fritz Family Farm. I also work with non-profit organizations such as Inter Parish Ministry, The VNA Health Group, and The Metro United Way Louisville.
My graphic design and production journey started in the BMX warehouse office of DK Bicycles. Here I designed sales fliers, product catalogs, which included product photography, and lead to the product packaging re-branding efforts. This meant creating die lines for all our new packaging to working with our Chinese manufacturing partners to produce the final pieces. Having such a well-rounded job description so soon after graduating landed me a job as a production artist at one of the top branding firms in the city, Landor. It was there I was really able to hone my skills; learning more information about the print and packaging world than my fresh-from-college brain could hold at times. I loved it and still use that knowledge when designing today.
From there, I landed in the heart of a publishing company – the marketing design department of F+W Media. It was in this position where I taught myself to code and discovered the beauty of strategic marketing. Drip campaigns, e-blasts, blow-in card psychology, web ads around every corner; all while keeping multiple titles on-brand and turned around quickly. I listened to every podcast, webinar and speaker the company offered to employees to soak in as much knowledge out the design and freelance industry. It was design-nerd heaven.
My final position before breaking out on my own was with another publishing house; Gannett, and this time it came with a twist. I was walking into an understaffed direct marketing department servicing 80+ newspapers around the country. My expertise in direct marketing to consumers, along with my understanding of production in both print and web, my branding experience and attention to detail earned me the responsibility of not only branding a new, top-secret campaign, but the roll-out of the new design into the remaining markets. I was tasked with designing every piece of marketing that would touch the consumer — not only to create a brand standard, but also to develop templates for other designers to utilize within their workflow. Free online content was moving to paid subscription, and we were setting the standard. The New York Times passed around my introduction letter designed for our consumers throughout their internal offices as a reference on how to roll out their own paid subscription model.
Ultimately, I left the corporate world to see what I could do for myself. I started my wedding invitation design company in a short stint between Landor and F+W Media, grew the company while working full time for six years, and eventually took the plunge into sole proprietorship. Today, my company offers the following services, working with each client to create a custom services package based on their needs. By cultivating strong relationship with co-workers throughout my career and maintaining those relationships well past my farewells, I have an amazing support team ready to assist in projects outside of my scope.
